The AppStore is now 1 year old. It seems longer than a year that Apple first unveiled plans for, undoubtedly, the best online distribution system for portable gaming. The ease of use of both the SDK for developers, and the AppStore for consumers is second to none. The only downside is that while the games are still on the cheap side, you can easily run up a substantial bill without even knowing. Hopefully this is where we come in, sorting through the best of the AppStore and giving you some help in deciding which games to buy.

Back when it started there were only a handful of games, but now there are thousands. Granted most of these are not even worth a look, but it’s crazy to think that the iPhone would have more games in a year than all the console competition combined.

Apple have outlined their favourite games over the past year [link], if you want to know what our are, well, simply click on editors choice page to see our faves. Just like last year, we’ll be holding our prestigious end of year awards podcast in December so you’ll be able to see our pick of the best.

And here’s a review from the archive, of DeBlob, the very first game I downloaded and reviewed from the AppStore.

Review disclosure: Any games reviewed on this page may have been provided to us by the developer for the purposes of this review.
