Looks like the explosion effects on the car look pretty impressive

Yep it does look good, it’s based on the GP2x version of the game. Looking closer though, there seems to be some texture distortion on the windows. As long as it’s smooth I’ll be happy… Love me some GTA style play, unofficial or not.
